Industrial tradition meets modernity – the new office of the Vesuvius PM Team in Skawina

Inspirational, conducive to good communication, elegant, bustling with life. This is how the members of the Vesuvius PM Team define their workspace in one word. Until now, they have worked in various locations within the company. Now they have an exclusive common space, which will not only improve the daily quality of work but also significantly contribute to the integration of the entire team.

The idea for creating a new office was to look for an application for rooms in one of the oldest buildings operating within the site. It was built shortly after the end of the WWII. First, the production of silica products was located here, and in the following years, it was used as a cloakroom, carpentry shop, and warehouse. Vesuvius decided to partially preserve its industrial character while creating a comfortable workspace for the members of the PM Team.

– In the beginning, we wanted to create a traditional office space here, but when we discovered the structural elements of this building, we decided that they had to be preserved. This is how the vision of a modern office with references to the industrial past was born – says Marek Cyganik, Chief Engineer at Vesuvius in Skawina and one of the originators of the project. – The industrial character has been maintained due to the colors, the preservation of the old elements of the building, but also the use of some items from other parts of site, such as old metalohalogen lamps. Together they form a common whole referring with their design to the 60s and 70s – he adds.

The new office will significantly improve the comfort of work and the implementation of the daily tasks of the Project Team employees. Until now, communication between them could not be that smooth – they had their offices in different locations. Now they will be able to consult their ideas, discuss problems, and conduct meetings on an ongoing basis. The latter will certainly be facilitated by the presence of a special room intended for this type of task.

– It is a very important element of our team’s work because we conduct many meetings and discussions on the occasion of projects. Thanks to the fact that we work together, in one place, we can solve all issues related to projects on an ongoing basis – says Piotr Piątkowski, Site Project Manager at Vesuvius in Skawina. – Of course, I like the arrangement of the new space and its inspiring decor, but most of all, the fact that we are all in one place together – he sums up.
