8 steps of teamwork for process refinement

As a global industry leader, we are committed to offering increasingly safer and more efficient products for the metallurgical and foundry industry. One of the initiatives we have undertaken at the Vesuvius Skawina plant to perfect production processes is the monthly “Skawina monthly 8D challenge,” a collaborative effort that involves the following eight steps.
– We constantly strive to be better. Our priority is the satisfaction of our customers. The 8D methodology, which aims to effectively solve problems, allows us to strengthen this satisfaction –emphasizes the initiator of the initiative, Ryszard Pawlus, Site Quality Manager.
The initiative consists of several key stages. At the beginning, teams define challenges and perform a complete 8D analysis – thus defining and verifying improvement actions. Then, a meeting is held to present individual ideas and subject them to evaluation and discussion. Finally, the most interesting project is selected.
– We met in a team consisting of people from different departments, and it was very important that the team was interdisciplinary. The greatest value of this initiative is the opportunity to exchange experiences and unique perspectives that each department possesses. Quality is our common cause – says Dominika Ożga, Viso Quality Engineer and leader of the award-winning team.
The prize for the winning team is an additional pool of funds that employees can allocate to any team-building activity.
