Movember at Vesuvius, show your mustache and take care of your health!
2024-12-09November at Vesuvius was marked by Movember – an international campaign aimed at raising awareness about men’s health, especially in the areas of prostate and testicular cancer prevention. Movember’s purpose goes beyond a reminder about regular check-ups, it also encourages symbolic support by growing (or creatively presenting!) mustaches.
The most creative mustache
This year, all Vesuvius employees, regardless of gender, were invited to join in. To enter the contest, participants were asked to submit a photo with a mustache – real or imaginative. Judging criteria included creativity and the aesthetic presentation of the mustache, with unique prizes awaiting the winners.
The three most creative mustache wearers received vouchers for comprehensive services at local barbers and hair salons.
Movember as a month of prevention
Movember is not just about mustaches – it’s also a reminder that men’s health matters. Through initiatives like Movember, each of us has an opportunity to spread awareness about prevention and encourage regular check-ups. For instance, testicular cancer, which is most common in men aged 14–35, has a 95% cure rate when detected early. Early diagnosis also offers an 85% chance of full recovery from prostate cancer, which primarily affects men over 45.
One of the most important aspects of prevention is self-examination and regular visits to specialists. Vesuvius employees have access to urological consultations through the Compensa healthcare packages, which supports their everyday health care.
Show your mustache and live
We’re thrilled that so many Vesuvius employees took part in the contest, demonstrating their support and creativity. We thank everyone for their engagement and look forward to seeing just as much enthusiasm in future editions.
Let’s look out for each other and keep in mind – prevention is key!
